Children dears, please listen,
And heed to what I say
So please do mind your manners
when you go to tea today.
Say Please, and Thank you
Sorry, and Excuse me
And Tommie dear don't talk a lot
Or you'll choke on the tea.
And Rocky, when you get there
Don't chuck any rocks
And Lily, pray be careful
You do not tear your frock.
And Jackie, please listen
to your darling old mother
when she says "Don't overeat,
Or quarrel with your brother"
Children please heed
What I say
And don't at all misbehave
Did you hear me, Jay?
And when it is all over,
Don't forget to say, "Goodbye,
We all have to get home now,
Night is drawing high".
And children, if you listen,
and heed to what I say
I promise I will take you,
To tea another day.
